Peter Ruppert Memorial Scholarship
The Peter Ruppert Memorial Scholarship was established in 2023 to honor the late Fusion Education Group Founder. Peter was the Fusion Scholarship Foundation’s inspiration and its biggest champion.
It was Peter’s vision to establish the Foundation as a way to provide financial assistance and hope to students who desperately need the benefits of a personalized education that Fusion offers, but lack the resources to pay for it. In his honor, the Foundation awarded two scholarships to students with the greatest financial need and academic challenges. This year’s recipients of the Peter Ruppert Memorial Scholarship are:
Tayden Porterfield–Fusion Greenwich
Damir D’Schommer-Grant–Fusion Minneapolis
Tayden is an 8th grader and friend to all at Fusion Greenwich. You can often find her socializing with her friends in the Homework Cafe! Passionate about writing, storytelling and music, Tayden is also an active participant in school clubs and activities. She is looking forward to attending college and having a career as a writer. Tayden’s mom credits Fusion with putting her on a path to success by embracing her challenges and empowering with tools and understanding as well as a sense of purpose. Interesting fact: Tayden began speaking at 9 months!
Damir, a junior at Fusion Minneapolis, is passionate about all things psychology and Russian. In fact, Damir learned Russian on his own and is in his 6th year of studying the language. Damir is an active member of his school community and was instrumental in organizing the school’s first World Cultures Day. Damir struggled greatly in traditional school settings prior to Fusion and his mom believes that Fusion was able to tap into his innate curiosity and creativity which has allowed him to flourish. Interesting fact: Damir published a book of fiction while in 6th grade!
